Alaska Commercial Company (ACC) is thrilled to announce the grand opening of a new, state-of-the-art, 26,000 square foot store in Kotzebue, Alaska. The new facility was built over the past two years and reflects AC’s commitment to Kotzebue and the surrounding villages. The new store is larger than the existing store and offers a modern, energy-efficient design that prioritizes convenience, quality, and accessibility.
A spacious new Deli and Bakery department will offer fresh grab-and-go options, a full-service hot case, a variety of meats and cheeses, and freshly baked bread. The Produce Department will showcase an enhanced selection including more organic options, more made-in-store food, and a floral department offering bouquets and arrangements. The space for chilled and frozen foods has also doubled, which will expand the range of options for customers.

We are equally proud that all food and general merchandise are now located on a single level, which will create a convenient shopping experience for all ages,” said Walt Pickett, Vice President of Operations and General Manager at Alaska Commercial Company.
A motorsports department includes all-terrain vehicles and essential fluids to meet the needs of rural Alaskans who depend on this equipment for daily transportation, subsistence living, and outdoor exploration. Other features of the new store include a Credit Union 1 branch, the first self-checkout stations in Kotzebue, and a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.

The grand opening celebration will be held on Saturday, November 16. It will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:00 am followed by a traditional blessing ceremony. From 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, there will be giveaways every two hours featuring major prizes such as a Honda ATV, Samsung TV, Samsung Soundbar, JVC Soundbar and Subwoofer, and AC gift cards. Everyone in Kotzebue is invited to commemorate the opening of the new store.
