Alaska Commercial Company (ACC) is excited to announce the groundbreaking of a new grocery store in Hoonah, Alaska, scheduled to open in early 2027. Developed in partnership with the Hoonah Indian Association (HIA), the new store will offer an assortment of grocery options with reliable access to fresh produce, meat, and other household essentials.
The new 4,800 square-foot facility will feature a modern design similar to other ACC stores in Southeast, Alaska with a focus on freshness, quality, and customer service. The store will provide convenient access to groceries for Hoonah residents year-round while supporting the community’s increased retail needs during the tourism season.
In late 2025, ACC conducted an online survey to gather feedback from Hoonah residents about their shopping needs. Based on hundreds of responses, the company is designing the store with community input in mind. Customers can expect to find a wide selection of food, including grab-and-go meal options, dry grocery products, assorted meats, produce, and a variety of club pack items. Following the store’s opening, ACC will continue to evaluate customer needs and expand product offerings based on local feedback.
“We are very proud to open our 39th store in Hoonah in 2027. We have been working with the Hoonah Indian Association for several years to add a second grocery store to Hoonah, and we are excited to showcase everything AC has to offer,” said Kyle Hill, President of Alaska Commercial Company.

The groundbreaking celebration will be held on Monday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m. Members of the ACC leadership team and representatives from the Hoonah Indian Association will gather on-site to recognize the start of the project and share details about the upcoming development. Upon completion of the new store, ACC will host a community grand opening celebration featuring samples, giveaways, and activities to commemorate the occasion.
