AC partnered with the Food Bank of Alaska to distribute 48,000 pounds of shelf-stable food boxes to Prince of Wales Island. The first 4-pallet shipment was sent from the AC warehouse in Tacoma last month and arrived in Klawock on Friday. The remaining 36 pallets will be distributed in phases through the end of June.
The Food Bank of Alaska is working with local partners, Prince of Wales Island Food Bank (POWIFB) and the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC), to distribute shelf-stable food boxes across the island. POWIFB has begun distributing boxes to the community. SEARHC will begin their pickup and distribution process soon.
A huge thank you to our AC Klawock team for coordinating the pickup and transport of these pallets to Alaska Food Bank partners, helping ensure they reach community members across the island. AC would also like to thank the Food Bank of Alaska for the opportunity to collaborate on such a meaningful cause.
For updates and more information on how to receive a box, community members are encouraged to contact POWIFB directly or visit the local Facebook group: Prince of Wales Island Community.
