Some of the earliest residents arrived in Point Hope after crossing the Bering Land Bridge over 2,000 years ago. Situated on a gravel spit in northwest Alaska, Point Hope is one of the oldest continuously inhabited sites in North America. The Iñupiat people have long relied on whaling, fishing, and hunting for survival. Today, whaling remains a cornerstone of the community’s culture and subsistence lifestyle. Point Hope’s remote location offers breathtaking views of the Arctic Ocean and opportunities to experience Inupiat traditions.
