Hooper Bay Store & Community
Hooper Bay is a central Yup’ik community in western Alaska that relies on subsistence fishing, hunting, and gathering. The wetlands surrounding the village provide vital resources, including fish, seals, and berries. Seasonal activities like fishing and hunting bring the community together, preserving a shared way of life. People in this area maintain a highly mobile lifestyle, moving between seasonal camps to follow the migration patterns and seasonal availability of fish, seals, and birds. The area is known for its handcrafted baskets and artwork.
